A fire in the Albaida place, an area of mountains on the outskirts of Córdoba, has forced to evict some 60 homes from several urbanizations in the Santa Ana neighborhood. El Fuego has started near seven o’clock in the afternoon in the gutter of the CO-3402 road, according to the prevention service, fire extinguishing and rescue of the City of Córdoba. The Andalusian Infoca has activated an hour later the emergency phase and the Minister of the Presidency of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Sanz, has asked for “a lot of caution.” Mayor José María Bellido has moved to the control center installed in the area to follow the evolution of the flames.

Those responsible for the Emergency Plan for Forest Fire of Andalusia (Infoca Plan) have decided the evacuation of urbanizations potentially affected by fire, in addition to the closure to traffic of the CO-3402 road. The evacuated areas are those of Santa Ana de la Albaida, the equestrian club and Mirasierra, as well as the hotel of the castle of La Albaida. In total, there are about 60 homes that have been affected by the measure due to the proximity of the flames, according to the City Council, which adds that some 200 people from the Viewierra club have also been evicted. The Consistory informs that the information point for affected by the fire is located in the Rafael Rivas Gómez roundabout.

As noted, Emergencies 112 Andalucía has activated the Firefighters of Córdoba, National Police, the Andalusian Emergency Group (Grea), Civil Guard and effective of the Infoca Plan. Four aerial media have moved to the place, which have remained there until the night has fallen, and five pumper vehicles and eight forest fire groups are working.

“Continuing with concern the serious forest fire in Córdoba. All thanks to the emergency services that are on the ground and as always in these cases it is important to extreme caution and follow the indications of the authorities,” said the first vice president of the Government and general secretary of the PSOE in Andalusia, María Jesús Montero on X (formerly Twitter).

Another focus on Ferreras

Another fire also keeps the town of Ferreras (León) in suspense, where the Junta de Castilla y León has activated level 2 of danger (over 3) when considering that there is a risk for infrastructure and nearby populations after the flames jump a road. The Ministry of Environment has reported that the fire, which has originated “in agricultural land”, “has reached very quickly the forest area north of Riofrío.” And he has warned that the LE-5418 road between Riofrío and Ferreras is cut. There is “a lot of smoke that hinders visibility and extinction work,” he warned. The delegate of the Junta de Castilla y León in León, Eduardo Diego, has affirmed that there is no risk for populated nuclei and that “the fire, caused by an agricultural machine, has calcined two chickens and a property.”

The hectares burned in this area of southeast of León are still unknown, of an agricultural nature and without a specially complicated orography. The weather conditions of recent days, cooler than the average to be July, and both at night and the next few days, can help contain the range of fire.

Castilla y León has allocated about 40 firefighters for this fire and members of the Tabuyo Forest Fire Reinforcement Brigade have also been incorporated, also based on the Leonese province and close to this point. One of the operative firefighters explained that the situation had been complicated “a little for possible affectation to the people” after a ship suffered damage. However, “the left flank is closed and works on the head because the conditions improve, the temperature will lower and the humidity will rise,” he added.
