The volume of passengers transported at Rio Branco International Airport suffered a strong retraction in the first six months of 2025, as revealed by the demand and supply report released by the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac). The number of passengers per kilometer (RPK) fell from 423.8 million by 2024 to 248.3 million this year, a reduction of approximately 41.4%.

Although it is still the main air connection of Rio Branco, the route to Brasilia had a significant drop: from 347 million RPK (over 80% of the movement) last year to 136.8 million (about 55%) this year. The change highlights the loss of strength of the traditional line and the strengthening of other flight options.

Despite the fall in total movement, Routes for Confins and Guarulhos grow and gain relevance/photo: ceded
By 2025, new connections gained space in the local air network. Flights for Confins (MG) and Guarulhos (SP) increased considerably their representativeness, accounting for 26.77% and 6.68% of the total, respectively. In the previous year, these same routes accounted for only 8.45% and 0.06%. Also featured on the list of destinations with greater participation the flights to Manaus (5.30%), Porto Velho (3.70%) and South Cruise (2.46%).
Among airlines, there were relevant changes in market share. Gol led again, but falling into its slice: from 48.15% in 2024 to 35.17% in 2025. TAM also shrink, going from 42.32% to 34.40%. On the other hand, Azul expanded its performance in a striking way, jumping from 9.5% to 30.43% in the period.
