The son of former US President Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, said in an interview that his father performed disastrously in the debate with Donald Trump in last year’s elections for taking Zolpidem, a hypnotic medicine suitable for insomnia.
According to Hunter told YouTuber Andrew Callaghan on Monday, 22, Biden had twice traveled to Europe and participated in a fundraising event in California, and was exhausted. “I know what happened in that debate. He flew around the world, by mileage, could have turned around three times. He is 81 years old, was very tired,” he said.
“They gave [zolpidem] so he could sleep. Then he took the stage and was just like the dizzy cockroach, ”he added.
The debate, which took place in June last year, changed the US presidential campaign. Biden had memory lapses, showed physical fragility and lost the line of reasoning. Because of the performance, the candidacy went into crisis and the then president began to under pressure from the Democratic Party leaders to resign in reelection.
Almost a month after the debate and weeks of pressure, Biden gave up his candidacy and his vice-president Kamala Harris replaced him.
In the second interview, Hunter criticized Democrats, advisors to former President Barack Obama and actor George Clooney for pressing Biden to give up. “They think they know more than the man they have achieved, unlike everyone, to be elected to the US Senate seven times and have more votes than any other president? Do you think they can replace his judgment?” Said the former president’s son.

Biden appeared in the first presidential debate against Trump last year with a hoarse voice, without giving coherent answers and with memory lapses that made him freeze in the answers. Performance increased age -related fears, which was already a theme in the campaign.
