The artist announced in August 2024 that he would resume cancer treatment when he discovered, during routine tests, that the disease had returned in 4 regions of the body. In the same month, a chemotherapy process began.
In December last year, Preta underwent 18 hours surgery to remove 4 tumors spread across the body: 2 in lymph node, 1 nodule in the ureter and a metastasis in the peritoneum.
In May 2025, the singer traveled to the US, where she volunteered to participate in experimental treatment at Virginia Cancer Institute.
Then he traveled to New York to perform tests at the Kettering Cancer Center Memorial – Institution that is a world reference in cancer treatment and research. He stayed in the city, where he traveled to Washington to perform the experimental procedures. Friends and family took turns to accompany the singer in the US.
