The former president () gave up on Tuesday (22) to go to the House of Representatives, after threat of the minister, (Supreme Federal Court), arrest for breach of precautionary measure.
Bolsonaro was expected in public security and foreign relations committees, whose work was resumed by allies during parliamentary recess to approve motions of praise, support and solidarity to the former president.
After Moraes’s decision on Monday night (21), Bolsonaro decided not to attend. The magistrate gave the defense 24 hours to provide clarification on the former president’s speech videos, after having banned him on social networks.
According to advisors, Bolsonaro is expected to remain at the PL national headquarters on Tuesday.
In his decision, Moraes calls for clarification, “under penalty of immediate decree of the defendant’s arrest.” In the document, he shows images of the former president displaying his anklet and video prints with his lines being shared on social networks.
The former president spoke to journalists on Monday afternoon in the House of Representatives when leaving a meeting with parliamentarians of opposition to the Lula government (PT).
“Cowardice what they are doing with former President of the Republic. Let’s face everything and everyone. What goes for me is the law of God,” said the former president. “This is a symbol of the maximum humiliation,” he said, pointing to the anklet.
Bolsonaro’s statement was recorded in audio and video and shared by profiles of former president’s supporters and opponents on social networks.
Bolsonaro spoke to the press less than three hours after Moraes released an order stating that the precautionary measures imposed last Friday (18) also banned the former president from making statements that were released on the networks.
Bolsonaro’s Moraes’s decision on social networks disarticulated the main strategy drawn by the former president after against him.
Bolsonaro’s plan was to expand its exposure, especially with the increase in the number of interviews granted. Now, their allies prepare a new reaction, which provides for an offensive about the court in Congress and the streets, with mobilizations starting on August 3, on the eve of the return of the legislature. The actions will be based on reinforcing the speech of persecution of the former president.
