The federal deputy () presented, on Wednesday (23), a bill entitled “Law Elon Musk” after threats from the government against the Pix.

The measure would require big techs for digital advertising, such as goal and Google, to pay Brazilian citizens for using personal data.

For this, the text advocates the creation of a digital social contribution to be charged from technology companies whose annual gross revenue exceeds R $ 500 million. The rate would be 7%.

The amount collected would be applied to funds to finance public storage infrastructure and fight fake news.

The purpose of the bill, according to the deputy, is to ensure national sovereignty in the treatment of information from Brazilian citizens, avoiding sabotage by foreign governments.

“Big techs need to remunerate our population, since it is from data collection and marketing most of the income and enrichment of owners,” says the deputy.
