The Deputy Governor of Minas Gerais, Mateus Simões (Novo), said in an interview with CNN Moneythat the privatization of Copasa () is under discussion.
He, however, did not give other details about the process.
Simões detailed that the state government is preparing the proposal to grant sanitation that should refer to the area affected by the Mariana Dam disaster, among other areas.

“This is a different concession, because instead of the state charging, we will land $ 7.5 billion for universalization to happen faster,” he explained.
According to the deputy governor, the works must be started in 2027 and completed by 2030.
