Vasco’s coach analyzes the last games and explains difficulties in reinforcing the cast
After the elimination of the South American Cup, the coach gave a press conference in São Januário and spoke about the team’s performance, the scarcity of financial resources for hiring and the support he has received from President Pedrinho.

Diniz acknowledged that Vasco could have resolved the classification in the first half and regretted another departure with wasted offensive volume.
– I think it was repeated today what happened against Grêmio. We had an interesting volume in the creation and we gave in a little counterattack. When asked about President Pedrinho’s absence at the stadium at a time of pressure, Diniz came out in defense of the agent and made a point of highlighting his character and effort behind the scenes.

Market: Limited hiring and risk bets
With transparency, the coach explained the club’s financial reality and the difficulties faced in the ball market. Diniz admitted that Vasco is unable to dispute trendy reinforcements with other clubs and, therefore, needs to “risk”.
– Regarding reinforcements, when I came here I already knew the scarcity of resources. We are in the market, but there will not be a lot of player. You know that. Let’s end up risking hiring. It’s easy to hire Vitor Roque, Savarino, Luiz Henrique, Alcaraz – players everyone knows, ”he said.
Diniz also revealed that the club tried to hire striker Hinestroza, one of the highlights of Atletico Nacional (Colombia), but bumped into the values.
“We tried Hinestroza, you know that.” It was the first name that came when Libertadores began. We also look for other extremes abroad, but asked for 8, 10, 12 million euros. And we had no condition. It’s harder for us to hire. We need to risk and cheer to work, ”he explained.
For example, the coach quoted the case of Nuno, a striker who arrived at the club under little expectation and today is one of the highlights of the team.
“No one knew Nuno, and today he gives Vasco technical return.” But it’s not an easy thing, ”he concluded.
