The Czech Prime Minister, the conservative Petr Fiala, defended this Saturday that the European Union (EU) remains united and continues to negotiate against the announcement of the US President, Donald Trump, to impose tariffs of 30 % from August 1 to the products of the community block.
Fiala highlighted the importance of maintaining diplomatic efforts to avoid an escalation of economic tensions and assured that tariffs will negatively affect transatlantic trade, reports Radio Prague.
In that strategy, the Czech leader requested that EU countries act firmly and united to protect community economic interests.
Trump published this Saturday on his social network, Truth Social, a letter dated July 11, addressed to the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in which he states that he will apply a 30 % tariff to the products from the EU as of August 1, “separated” from other sectoral rates.
