According to a spokesman for David Mencer, the lack of food is responsible for the Hamas movement, which is said to prevent the distribution of humanitarian aid and looted shipments for civilians.
The Israeli government on Wednesday denied responsibility for the persistent lack of food in the Gaza Strip. Government spokesman David Mencer has accused the Palestinian militant Hamas movement of deliberately creating a crisis in the Palestinian enclave and looting humanitarian aid. According to AFP reports and BBC, TASR reports this.
“There is no famine caused by Israel in Gaza today,” Mencer said at a press conference after more than 100 humanitarian and human rights organizations have highlighted the hunger affecting a number of people in Gaza and called on Israel to allow humanitarian aid.
Accusations against Hamas
“There is a need for man, but Hamas is responsible for it,” the Israeli government spokesman continued, accusing Palestinian militants that they are preventing food distribution and looting trucks with humanitarian help.
He noted that the claims of famine appears throughout the conflict, but these are only “alarm messages”. According to him, hunger in Gaza “organizes” Hamas, which uses hunger to put pressure on Israel.
Humanitarian aid
According to Mencer, the Palestinian territory is flowing through the Humanitarian Foundation for Gaza (GHF) and through shipments of raw materials for bakeries and community cuisine, which is coordinated by the UN. From Saturday 19th July to Tuesday, more than 4,400 trucks with food, flour and baby food entered the Gaza Strip, the spokesman says.
Mencer also said that the GHF distributed two million portions of meals for Palestinians on Tuesday and this organization provided 87 million portions. According to him, there are more than 700 humanitarian trucks in the Gaza Strip to raise this aid to pick up the UN staff. At the same time, Mencer has accused the UN of delaying the distribution of aid.
