The first information about the resignation of the Japanese Prime Minister appeared only a few hours after US President Donald Trump announced a business agreement with Japan.
Japanese Prime Minister Shiger Išiba decided only a few hours after the announcement of the trade agreement between the United States and Japan that he will withdraw from his office for the defeat of his ruling coalition in Sunday’s elections to the Upper Chamber of Parliament by the end of August, the Japanese newspaper Mainiči Šinbun and the Jedi agency reported. At the same time, Išib promised the opposite on Monday, TASR writes based on AFP, Reuters and Bloomberg reports.
According to Mainiči Šinbun reports, Išib has already announced the decision to people around him. An unnamed high -ranking source from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) also confirmed the report for Jews. The first information about the resignation of the Japanese Prime Minister appeared only a few hours after US President Donald Trump announced a business agreement with Japan, which includes, among other things, a 15 % CLO imposed on Japanese goods imported into the US.
According to Bloomberg, the Japanese leader should unconventionally meet the three previous prime ministers on Wednesday, with whom he will allegedly talk about his future, as well as high -ranking LDP representatives about the weekend election result.
The Ishiba side and her coalition partner Comeito were missing three armchairs in Sunday’s vote to keep the majority in the 248-member upper chamber. The coalition thus has a minority in both chambers of Parliament. The leader of the main opposition constitutional-democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ) Yoshihika Noda said on Sunday that, given the result, he is considering filing a petition to pronounce the government.
The Prime Minister, however, promised on Monday that he would remain in his office despite defeat, especially to oversee the negotiations on duties with the United States, as well as other urgent problems such as rising prices. By his decision, he also triggered a split in his own party.
