More than 100 human rights and humanitarian rights groups have asked governments to adopt urgent measures on Gaza’s growing hunger, including the requirement of immediate and permanent ceasefire, as well as the end of all restrictions on humanitarian aid flow.

In a statement signed by 111 organizations, including Mercy Corps, Norwegian Council of Refugees and International Refugees, the groups warned that mass hunger spreads through the enclave, even with tons of food, drinking water, medical supplies and other items remaining outside Gaza, as humanitarian organizations are prevented from accessing or delivering them.

“As the siege of the Israeli government hungry kills the population of Gaza, humanitarian workers now join the same lines of food, at the risk of being shot only to feed their families. With fully exhausted supplies, humanitarian organizations witness their own colleagues and partners will be before their eyes,” organizations said.

“The restrictions, delays and fragmentation of the Israeli government under its total siege have created chaos, hunger and death.”

Organizations ask governments to demand the end of all bureaucratic and administrative restrictions, the opening of all land passages, the guarantee of access to all in Gaza, the rejection of the controlled distribution by the military, and the restoration of a “human -based humanitarian response led by the UN”.

“States need to adopt concrete measures to end the siege, such as interrupting the transfer of weapons and ammunition.”

Israel, who controls all supplies that enter Gaza, denies responsibility for food shortages.

More than 800 people have been killed in recent weeks trying to get food, mostly in mass shootings by Israeli soldiers positioned near the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation Distribution Centers. The US -backed Foundation has been harshly criticized by humanitarian organizations, including the United Nations for alleged lack of neutrality.

Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive in response to Hamas attacks in October 2023, Israeli forces have killed nearly 60,000 Palestinians in air attacks, bombing and shooting. The Hamas Group killed 1,200 people and captured 251 hostages that month.

For the first time since the beginning of the war, the Palestinian authorities report that dozens of people are also starving.

Gaza has seen their food stocks running out since Israel cut all supplies to the territory in March, raising the blockade in May with new measures that, according to the Israeli government, are needed to avoid deviating aid to militant groups.
