They close access to Spaniards and other foreigners to their pool: "What sounds drastic has an effect"

The Porrentruy municipal pool, a Swiss town of the Jura canton, has decided this summer to prohibit access to people who do not have Swiss nationality, work or residence permit after several incidents due to incivic behaviors and excess capacity, as reported by the medium, which has added that “what sounds drastic has an effect.”

The City Council of Porrentruy reported on July 2 in a statement that “it has decided to restrict access to the outdoor pool as a precautionary measure and for a limited period” to guarantee the safety of the bathers. The measure implies that from July 4 to August 31, they can only access the pool “Swiss nationals, holders of a residence permit and holders of a valid Swiss work permit.”

The Consistory explained that he has adopted this prohibition for “the high temperatures and the extreme influx of people in recent days”, in addition to “inappropriate behaviors, incivism and lack of respect for the norms in force in the pool.” Specifically, he recalled that he has expelled prior to “more than twenty people” for the aforementioned behaviors.

The French press was echoed by this measure because it affects, to a large extent, French citizens cross the border to go to this pool, although in statements to the media, the mayor of Portentruy denied that it was a discriminatory measure, as reported .

This is not the first time that this town adopts this measure, but already put it into practice in the summer of 2020, partly because of the sanitary emergency situation derived from the Pandemia of the COVID-19, but also by the identification of uncivic behaviors, as some media reported.
