The president of the, said on Tuesday (22), having closed commercial agreement with the expected elimination of 99% of the country’s tariff barriers for American products, while the US will apply a 19% rate to imported Indonesian products.
Last week, the Republican had already said he had finalized a pact with Indonesians, but confirmed it in a statement that the understanding was agreed today.
In the publication at Truth Social, Trump points out that “Indonesia will be an open market for US industrial, technological and agricultural products, eliminating 99% of its tariff barriers.” In turn, “the US will sell Indonesian -made products with Zero tariff, while Indonesia will pay 19% on all its products entering the US – the best market in the world!”
The agreement also provides that Indonesia will provide to the US “precious critical minerals, as well as signing major contracts, in the amount of billions of dollars, for the purchase of Boeing aircraft, US agricultural products and American energy,” added the Republican. Trump stated that the pact is “a huge victory” for car manufacturers, technology companies, workers, farmers, ranchers and American manufacturers.
In addition to tariff terms, the statement brings Indonesia commitments to reduce regulatory barriers, such as accepting US certifications and eliminating local demands for US products. There are also advances provided in intellectual property and rules for remanufactured products. The text also includes promises in the digital, environmental and labor area, with measures such as release of data transfer, combating illegal deforestation and prohibition of imports of goods produced with forced labor.
