O Body of the black singer Gil, who died last Sunday (20), arrived in Rio de Janeiro on the morning of Thursday (24)after process of repatriation from New York, in the United States. The first scale of the trip was Guarulhos International Airport, in São Paulo, where it left before 9am to the Santos Dumont Airport, in the state capital.
Preta Maria Gil Gadelha Moreira, 50, It will be veiled this Friday (25), from 9 am to 1 pm, at the Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro, in a ceremony open to the public. The place will receive fans and admirers who want to pay the last honors to the artist, symbol of joy, irreverence and strength.
According to the penitentium crematorium and cemetery, around 15hthe body will be taken to the ecumenical chapel of the cemetery, where there will be a farewell ceremony restricted to family and close friends, scheduled to end at 5 pm. Then the cremation will occur.
The City of Rio de Janeiro set a special traffic scheme to accompany the funeral procession to the cemetery, in the cashew. The route will follow part of the new “Preta Gil” street carnival blocks circuit, Created by the Municipal Administration of Rio as a tribute to the artist, who commanded the traditional Black Block during the Carioca Carnival. CET-Rio agents will act to ensure traffic fluidity and participants safety.
