BRASILIA (REUTERS)-President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva proposed on Wednesday, in call to Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum, the beginning of negotiations to expand trade agreement between the two countries amid threats to impose tariffs from the United States, the Planalto said in a statement.
In the conversation, the presidents hit a visit by Vice President Geraldo Alckmin to Mexico on August 27 and 28, accompanied by delegation by businessmen and ministers.
“President Lula stressed the importance of deepening economic and commercial relations between the two countries, especially in the face of the current moment of uncertainty,” says Planalto note.
“President Claudia and President Lula highlighted the sectors of the pharmaceutical, agricultural, ethanol, biodiesel, aerospace, as well as innovation and education as strategic areas in bilateral relationship.”
