Municipalities and public consortia may participate; The idea is to expand the use of ‘LED lamps’ to illuminate streets, squares, avenues and highways
The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) launched on the morning of Wednesday (23), a “super called” for the selection of projects that seek to replace public lighting with conventional technology with LED technology lamps.
Municipalities and intercity public consortia may participate. The idea is to expand the use of “LED lamps” to illuminate streets, squares, avenues and highways, for example. There is greater durability of these lamps as well as lower electricity consumption. This results from the point of view of efficiency, to a lower cost.
In addition, LED technology has higher lighting quality, according to technicians present at the launch event. In practice, there will be more lit neighborhoods with fewer equipment, for example.
The financial resources available for the public call will be granted by the Brazilian Company of Participations in Nuclear and Binational Energy (ENBPAR), through the National Electricity Conservation Program (PROCEL). The closing of the public call will be on January 30, 2026.
The folder led by Alexandre Silveira wants to reach as many municipalities as possible. For the city, individually, technical proposals will be accepted with minimum value of R $ 500 thousand and maximum of R $ 2.5 million. For consortia will be accepted technical proposals with minimum value of R $ 2.5 million and maximum of R $ 5 million. In addition, the highest scoring project in each region will be “awarded” with a public lighting telegenet system. This mechanism remotely controls and manages lighting networks in cities.
