On Thursday, Polish President Andrzej Duda appointed new members of the government, including Radoslaw Sikorský as Deputy Prime Minister, Waldemar Žurek as Minister of Justice and Jolanta Sobiejieň-Grend as Minister of Health. He described Duda as a basic value in his speech. The new composition of the reconstructed government was proposed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Wednesday. Informs Warsaw Newsletter TASR.
The appointment decisions were announced during the ceremonial act in the Presidential Palace. Duda also appointed Marcin Kierwiňský as Minister of Interior and Administration, Tomasz Siemoniak as Minister of Secret Services, Andrzej Domaňský for the Minister of Finance and Economy and Milosz Motyka for Minister of Energy.
Other members of the government are Stefan Krajewski as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Wojciech Balczun as Minister of State Assets, Marta Cienekowská as Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Jakub Rutnicki as Minister of Sport and Tourism, Maciej Berek as Minister of Surveillance of Government Policy and Jan Grabiec as Minister without Portfolio and Chairman of the Committee on Public Pros. At the same time, several ministers were dismissed from government positions.
In his speech, President Duda stressed the importance of security as a basic value and stated that a clearly defined and stable government is a guarantee of order in the country. “I think that today is the most important question for our fellow citizens – the physical, not in the broader sense of the word, but to make Poland stable, controlled and to rule in order,” said.
He also pointed out the need to ensure the continuity of state power and thanked all the outgoing members of the government for their work so far. The reconstruction of the government was announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk after the presidential election in which the government coalition Rafal Trzaskowski lost.
He also announced changes in the positions of ministers, including the abolition of some ministries and the creation of new ones at a press conference on Wednesday. “The period of election trauma is definitely over today,” The Prime Minister said on Wednesday in response to the election of the President in which the candidate supported by the opposition party Law and Justice Karol Nawrocki won.
