The Federal Supreme Court (STF) begins on Thursday (24) another sequence of interrogations of the defendants of the coup plot that occurred during the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
From 9am, by video conferencing, the defendants of Centers 2 and 4 of the Republic Attorney General’s Office (PGR) are heard about the attempted coup d’état to try to reverse the results of the 2022 presidential elections.
The main testimonials will be from Filipe Martins and Silvinei Vasques. Both are defendants of Nucleus 2, the accused group plan actions to try to support Bolsonaro’s illegitimate permanence in power.

Former former president of the former president, Martins is accused of introducing a jurist to former President Bolsonaro for drafting the journey of the coup, a document that provided for the decree of state of siege or defense in 2022.

Already Vasques is former director of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and accused of determining the holding of blitzes on the day of the second round of the elections of 2022, with the objective of blocking the displacement of voters by President Luiz Lula da Silva to the Northeast highways.

The defendants belonging to Nucleus 4, made up of military personnel accused of organizing misinformation actions to propagate false news about the electoral process and virtual attacks to institutions and authorities, will also be heard.
Because they are defendants, the accused may be silent in the face of questions asked by the representatives of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and the Alexandre de Moraes Office.

It is not yet confirmed if the minister will preside over the hearing or pass the command to an auxiliary judge.
Criminal action
Defendants are responsible for crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, coup d’état, damage qualified by violence and serious threat and deterioration of listed assets.
The interrogation of the defendants is one of the last phases of criminal action. It is expected that the trial that will decide on the conviction or acquittal of the accused will take place in the second half of this year.

Nuclei
PGR’s complaint about the coup plot was divided into four nuclei. Nucleus 1, formed by former President Jair Bolsonaro and seven other defendants, was questioned last month. This part of the process is in the final allegations, last phase, and must be tried in September.
Core 3 defendants will be questioned next Monday (28).
