On the night of Wednesday, July 23, a large meteor lit up the skies of Braga, leaving many observers surprised. The phenomenon occurred at 10:54 pm and was recorded by AMS211 station, installed at the Braga Astronomical Observatory in Gualtar, part of the Allsky7 international network.
According to the House of Science of Braga, the phenomenon was widely witnessed and quickly became prominent on social networks.
This type of meteor, known as bolide, is particularly bright and visible for several seconds, unlike the so -called most common and discreet “foul stars”. The observatory explained that the brightness is due to the intense warming of a meteoroid upon entering the earth’s atmosphere, usually between 76 and 100 kilometers of altitude.
