For the first time in 50 years, Expoacre will have translation in pounds during the shows and rodeo

With the commitment to make Expoacre 2025 a truly inclusive event, the Acre government promotes a series of improvements aimed at accessibility of people with disabilities (PCD), their families and caregivers. The fair, which starts on July 26 and runs until August 3, at the Wildy Viana Exhibition Park, will feature innovations and structure adapted to expand the participation of this audience.

Among the main advances is the unprecedented implementation of simultaneous translation in Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) during the shows, the rodeo and also in live broadcasts made by the official government channel on YouTube. The spaces for the PCD public were expanded, with specific areas near the stage and the rodeo arena. These sectors will have access ramps and greater visibility, promoting comfort and autonomy to wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility.

Another prominent measure is the creation of an exclusive environment for people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), especially those with noise intolerance, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to diversity and respect for different needs.

The actions also involve ramps in booths, accessible signs and adapted spaces throughout the park. According to the Secretary of State of Government, Luiz Calixto, these measures were defined after active listening with entities and associations that act in the defense of PCD rights. “Expoacre 2025 is the largest public event in our state and, in fifty years, was the first time we have made a qualified listening to those who have been working in PCD rights. After listening to moving testimonials, we realized how much it was necessary to provide better inclusion and accessibility so that everyone could participate and, in less than 16 days, possible measures within the deadline,” he said.

Calixto also highlighted the significant number of people with disabilities in the state. “In Acre, there is an estimated audience in 64,000 people, including people with disabilities and their families. It is a significant number that needs to be looked very positively, and the management of Governor Gladson Cameli and Deputy Governor Mailza Assis is a government that works to take care of people,” he said. According to him, articulation with civil society is essential to build effective and human public policies.

Despite the limits imposed by the fact that the exhibition park is a good of the Union, not the state, the State Secretariat of Works has managed to advance with infrastructure improvements. The holder of the portfolio, Ítalo Lopes, highlighted the importance of dialogue with the defense bodies of the rights of persons with disabilities. “In addition to the physical works, we had an important moment of listening and dialogue: we received in the Exhibition Park the visit of the Municipal Council for the Rights of People with Disabilities, where we present the advances made in this edition and reinforce our institutional commitment to follow up, year after year, the spaces and structures aimed at inclusion. And for everyone, ”he concluded.
