The Foreign Ministry of Israel stated that the Brazilian government’s decision to join an action that accuses the country of committing genocide in the Gaza track demonstrates a “deep moral failure” of Brazil.
“Brazil’s decision to join the legal offensive against Israel in the CIJ (International Court of Justice), while withdrawing from IHRA (International Alliance for Holocaust Memory), is a demonstration of a profound moral failure,” said the Foreign Relations Ministry of Israel on Thursday, 25.
“At a time when Israel fights for its own existence, turning against the Jewish state and leaving global consensus against anti-Semitism is reckless and shameful,” the statement said.

The Brazilian government announced on Wednesday, that it is in the final stages for submission of formal intervention in the process ongoing the International Court of Justice, driven by South Africa based on the convention for the prevention and repression of genocide crime.
“The decision is based on the duty of the states to comply with their obligations of international law and humanitarian law,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
“Brazil considers that there is no room for moral ambiguity or political omission. Impunity undermines international legality and compromises the credibility of the multilateral system,” the ministry noted, citing the recurring episodes of violence against the civilian population in the state of Palestine, which are not restricted to the Gaza Strip, but extend to the West Bank.
