The government has attacked the minister of (Supreme Federal Court) again on Thursday (24). In an X (former Twitter) post, Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy, Darren Beattie, said he is the “pulsating heart” of the persecution against the former president (PL).
“Minister Moraes is the pulsating heart of the persecution and censorship complex against Jair Bolsonaro, which, in turn, has restricted freedom of expression in the US. Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Rubio, we are attentive and taking appropriate action,” said Beattie.
Then the comment was also published on the social networks of the embassy in Brazil.
The message is passed while Bolsonaro’s allies in the United States press for more specific sanctions against Moraes. According to them, it is expected that there will be financial punishments to the minister, applied through magnitsky law.
The use of this measure to punish the magistrate has already been questioned in the Trump administration, because the legal framework would not be the right one. Bolsonarists, however, say the obstacles were overcome.
The Undersecretary’s comment was made when sharing a message published by State Department Secretary Marco Rubio, equivalent to Brazil’s Foreign Minister, last Friday (18).
That day Rubio determined the prohibition of US entry of Moraes, relatives and “colleagues in the court.” The announcement was made by Rubio on social networks. “I ordered the revocation of a visa to Moraes and his allies in the court, as well as for direct family members, immediately,” he said.
Rubio, in the post, said that the Supreme Court makes a “political witch hunt” against the former president (PL) and violates fundamental rights not only of Brazilians, but also of Americans.
He also stated that President Trump had already made it clear that he would act against foreigners responsible for “censorship.”
