President Donald Trump’s (Republican Party) Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff announced on Thursday (24.Jul.2025) the suspension of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.

According to Witkoff, “While the mediators made a great effort, Hamas does not seem to be coordinated or acting in good faith”. The information is from .

“Now we will consider alternative options to bring hostages home and try to create a more stable environment for the people of Gaza”he said.

It is unclear what the “Alternative Options” mentioned by Witkoff. The American text proposed an initial ceasefire of 60 days and partial release of hostages, followed by new negotiations for a permanent agreement.

The decision came after weeks of diplomatic efforts without significant advances.

Hamas insists on the release of hostages only with the complete withdrawal Israeli and end of the conflict. Israel refuses to end operations until the group leaves power and disarms-condition rejected by Hamas.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (Likud, right) said that extremists should not interpret Israel’s disposition to negotiate as weakness.
