Forged in the jungle: military and safety agents conclude intense training in CZS

Army military personnel and public security forces agents completed this Friday (25), in Southern Cruzeiro (AC), the internship of jungle operations (EOS), one of the most demanding training in the Amazon region. The activity was carried out by the 61st Jungle Infantry Battalion (61st BIS), the Juruá Border Command, and aimed to enable participants to act in missions within the Amazonian biome.

In all, 16 professionals were trained in this edition of the internship, eight military army military personnel and eight representatives of institutions such as the Federal Police, Penal Police, Gefron and Fire Department.

Two weeks of immersion, five days in the forest

The course was divided into two stages: a theoretical phase, with technical classes on orientation, first aid, patrol and weaponry, and a practical phase, with five days of activities in a jungle environment, where participants camped and put into practice the acquired knowledge.

“This training aims to improve operational activity in the Amazon region. Patrol, first aid techniques and combat in a jungle environment have been updated. Now I can say that our people are better prepared to work here,” said Major Lima Santos, deputy commander of the 61st BIS.

Integration between forces

In addition to the technical preparation, EOS has as its mark the integration between the Brazilian Army and the other public security institutions that operate in the Juruá Valley.

“The jungle requires preparation and unity. This course reinforces the joint work between the forces, which is fundamental for effective performance in the Amazon,” added the major.

Firefighters also participated

The Acre Fire Department was represented in the formation. The commander of the unit in Cruzeiro do Sul, Major Josadac Cavalcante, stressed the importance of training for search and rescue activities.

“This year only we have had 12 trips to locate lost people in forest area. This preparation strengthens our response in this type of occurrence, which requires technique, conditioning and resistance,” he said.

“The jungle is a constant surprise,” says a graduate agent

Criminal policeman Daniela Fernandes, head of security at the Southern Cruzeiro Women’s Unit, was one of the participants and highlighted the intensity of the training:

“It was 14 days of course, being 5 days of jungle. We were camped, in continuous instruction. The jungle is constant surprise. It requires speed, adaptation and resistance. It was exhaustive, but extremely valuable,” he said.

Strategic Training for the Amazon

The Jungle Operations Internship is offered by several Army Jungle Infantry Units and seeks to ensure that professionals act with efficiency, discipline and safety in the Amazon context. The edition held by the 61st BIS reinforces the commitment of the Armed Forces and civil institutions to the protection and strategic action within the forest.

The graduation ceremony took place in the courtyard of the barracks, in Cruzeiro do Sul, and was attended by military and family authorities of the graduates.
