The recruiter profession may disappear within six to twelve months, according to Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, an American Startup specializing in Artificial Intelligence (IA). Executive assistants will also be at risk of extinction as the new AI models become able to autonomously perform tasks traditionally performed by humans.
Quoted by ZAP, Srinivas warned of the immediate effects of the new generation of advanced language models, such as ChatgPT, Claude 4.5 or future GPT-5. From its perspective, this technology will replace some administrative functions in the coming months, causing significant changes in the job market.
The perplexity official believes that automation will no longer be a support tool and will become a real alternative to professions related to agenda management, meetings, profile filtering or communications.
Replace people with
The company led by Srinivas is currently developing Comet, an integrated artificial intelligence browser that will be able to perform tasks from start to finish without any human intervention. The tool is being designed to research, cross data, write texts and communicate with personalized users with a view to eliminating repetitive tasks.
Among the planned functions is calendar management, coordination of meetings, sending automatic summaries and even resolution of time conflicts, with direct access to platforms such as Gmail and Google Calendar. According to the same source, the goal is for the browser to act in the background, progressively replacing human assistants in various areas.
According to Srinivas, everything can be done fluidly and autonomously within six to twelve months. “It will do everything within a year,” he said, quoted by the previously mentioned source.
Direct impact on job
This prediction of the perplexity guardian is part of a wider debate on the impact of artificial intelligence on the traditional structure of work. This evolution may leave thousands of professionals without a defined function, as not everyone will be able to move to supervision roles or automated systems.
The change will be especially visible in sectors that depend on routine or structured tasks. The model proposed by Srinivas provides for humans to stop performing these tasks directly and only define goals, while AI agents deal with realization.
Despite the severity of the warning, the perplexity CEO has an optimistic view: he believes this advance will allow people to devote more time to leisure and less to intellectual or operational tasks.
An advertised “labor apocalypse”?
According to Nvidia’s founder Jensen Huang, he was one of those who recently warned that “AI will change the job of all people in the world.” The US Senator Bernie Sanders spoke in a true “Revelation Ia”, referring to the threat of a massive loss of jobs at the global level.
In the specific case of recruiters, Aravind Srinivas considers that their extinction should not only be replaced by automatic systems. In your opinion, you will also no longer people to recruit, as work processes themselves become digital, decentralized and software managed.
