Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Supreme Court (STF), ordered the removal of liberal party parliamentarians who were camped in the three powers in protest against restrictions on former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
In the decision, on Friday night (25), Moraes nominally cites federal deputies Helio Lopes (PL-RJ), Cavalcante (PL-RJ), Cabo Gilberto Silva (PL-PB), Colonel Chrisóstomo (PL-RO) and Rodrigo da Zaeli (PL-MT) to be removed from the site by the Military Police of the Federal District.
Parliamentarians Sostenes Cavalcante and Cabo Gilberto Silva denied, on social networks, to be at the camp in front of the STF.
The minister also notified the governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), so that it does not allow new camps in the Three Powers Square. The decision speaks of arrest in the act if there is “resistance or disobedience” of those involved in “possible criminal act”.
Deputy Hélio Lopes set up a tent in front of the STF on the afternoon of last Friday. With a white ribbon in his mouth, the parliamentarian stated that the act represents a protest against recent decisions of the Supreme.
On the same afternoon, Colonel Chrisóstomo visited Lopes and reported that he would also join the protest. Christomo said the protest was peaceful and aimed to “show dissatisfaction” about actions against former President Jair Bolsonaro.
In a publication in the X after the decision of Moraes, Lopes stated that the Praça dos Três Powers was surrounded and that there was a lawsuit underway to remove it from the site. “If freedom needs escort, then we are no longer in full democracy,” said the deputy.
Representative Sostenes Cavalcante, quoted in Moraes’s decision, said he was not in Brasilia and that Brazil is no longer a democratic country.
“War the minister Alexandre de Moraes that he must be confusing the facts or freaking out. I’m in Rio de Janeiro, working at my electoral base. I’m not in front of the STF, as he decided to say in his decision to withdraw me,” he said in a publication in X.
Already Cabo Gilberto Silva, also mentioned by Moraes, said on social networks that he was not in Brasilia during the camp. “Another serious mistake of the Supreme Court, I’m working in Paraíba right now, I’m not in the Praça of the Three Ooderes in Brasilia as the decision said,” he wrote.
