STF Minister says decision seeks to avoid events such as “scammers of January 8, 2023”
Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Court, determined on Saturday (26.Jul.2025) the ban on any camp within 1 km from the Three Powers Square, the Ministries Esplanade and Armed Forces barracks in Brasilia. According to the magistrate, the decision seeks to prevent new similar episodes on January 8.

The measure was a complementary decision to the Order of Moraes for the Federal Deputy (PL-RJ) who began on the afternoon of Friday (25.Jul) in the Praça dos Três Powers, in front of the Court’s headquarters. At the request of the PGR (Attorney General’s Office), the minister determined that the PF (Federal Police) will summon the Governor of Brasilia (MDB), for immediate removal of the local congressman.
