Salzburg – The 105th Salzburg Festival will be officially opened on Saturday with a ceremony in the rocky school of Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen. The speech is held by the Polish-American historian and publicist Anne Applebaum. It is considered a critic of authoritarian systems of rule. In the evening with “Giulio Cesare in Egitto” by Georg Friedrich Handel, the first scenic opera production follows this summer.
