The singer passed away last Sunday (7/20) in New York, USA, and since then has been receiving honors from thousands of fans and famous. The artist will also have the seventh-day mass in Rio de Janeiro, with the presence of the family next Monday (28/7). According to whom, the religious celebration will take place in the Church of Santa Monica, in Leblon, at 19h.
Preta will still be honored with a mass at the Santa Dulce of the Poor Sanctuary in Salvador, this Saturday (26/7), at 4 pm. During Globo’s “É de Casa” program, host Rita Batista said the celebration will be held at the institution that the artist supported in recent months.

The singer’s funeral was held on Friday (25/7), one day after the arrival of the body in the country, and was marked by several honors and presence of famous and fans at the municipal theater of Rio de Janeiro. The ceremony followed a procession along the journey of the carnival electric trios, in downtown Rio, which is now called “Preta Gil Street Carnival Circuit”, in his honor. The cremation, however, was reserved for family and friends at the Penitência Cemetery, in the Caju neighborhood.
Daughter of Gilberto Gil, the artist fought, and was in the United States undergoing experimental treatment against the disease. Preta was returning to Brazil after receiving the information that the treatment was no longer having an effect.
