An NGO coalition will make from Friday (25) to Sunday (27) in Diamantina (MG) an event to discuss a direct action of unconstitutionality in the Supreme Court (STF) against which, he says ,.
The objective of Climax 2025 – 2nd Meeting of Culture, Communication and Climate is to brake a. The event is organized by the Life, Green, Verse and Viola Coalition, alive in the Valley.
The event will serve to articulate action that the federal deputy (PSOL-MG) wants to file in the STF to cancel a 2021 decree on strategic mineral policy and another 2022 that seeks to reduce the mining license time by ANM (National Mining Agency).
“Today, we suffer the direct consequences of extractivism in the form of climate tragedy. Meanwhile, they now paint themselves green to theft of our riches, transforming the Jequitinhonha Valley into a huge open -air climate cemetery,” says the parliamentarian.
The NGOs specifically criticize the exploration of ore by Canadian Sigma Lithium, stating that the company captures a high volume of water per day from the Jequitinhonha River, “aggravating water stress in a semiarid region.”
The group also cites solid waste generated by the exploration and health problems associated with the practice.
The coalition brings together entities such as dam -affected movement, movement for popular sovereignty in mining, caritas and connects, as well as scientists, artists and parliamentarians. The event is organized by Ninja Media, Yékit Institute and Marielle Ramires Foundation.
