Baking paper is a product with wide use in the kitchen. After use for baking, it becomes a waste that needs to be properly disposed of. Where to dispose of baking paper? We’ll show you what to do with this type of kitchen waste.

Sorting some products is more problematic than others. For example, in the case of baking paper, we can deal with the product used, which at first glance does not show signs of being in the oven (eg it has no greasy spots and looks dry). Should the baking paper used but visibly soiled, go to the blue basket? We’ll check it out.

Baking paper – sorting waste to save the planet. Find out if you are doing this right

Cooking and baking produce many types of waste and baking paper is one of them. Sorting this type of waste can be a bit demanding and we are not always sure if we are doing it right.

  • The baking paper is not recyclable. It is usually coated with a silicone layer that facilitates baking.
  • Therefore, it should be placed in a black bag or mixed waste trash. Although there is no fat on it, it should not be thrown into a blue container.

Importantly, if you have any doubts about a particular product, it is worth checking the local regulations regarding the correct waste sorting.

Baking paper – where to throw away another regular kitchen waste, such as a baking powder cover?

Given the above silicone layer, it is recommended to dispose of not only used but also unused baking paper in the black bag. Where should you dispose of another similar waste that is produced daily in our homes?

Other items that should be included in mixed waste are:

  • packaging from butter and margarine
  • one -time dishes
  • used kitchen towels
  • Packaging from lacquered paper (eg baking powder, pudding)

Why is it so important? A blue paper container often receives unsuitable waste that transmits contamination to other products in the basket and complicates the recycling process. Only clean, dry and non -greasy paper should be inserted into the blue basket. For example, if the part of the cardboard packaging is contaminated, it is best to separate it from the rest that can be recycled.
