Country reduces rates for soy, meat and grains by up to 7 percentage points; Opposition speaks at risk of loss in collection
The president of Argentina, (La Libertad Avanza), reduced export rates for agricultural products such as poultry, beef, soy, corn, sorghum and sunflower. The measure was announced on Saturday (26.Jul.2025) during the opening of an exhibition of the (Argentine rural society). This is the official statement (PDF – 252 KB, in Spanish).
The tax cuts established by decreasing export rates at up to 7 percentage points. The load on birds and beef fell from 6.75% to 5%; about corn and sorghum, from 12% to 9.5%; Sunflower, from 7.5% to 5.5%; and soy, from 33% to 26%, while soy derivatives fell from 31% to 24.5%.
I mailed the measure by stating that these changes are permanent and will result in a reduction of about 20% in grain taxes and up to 26% in meat and cattle export.
The president stated that new rates represent a proportional reduction of up to 26% in beef export rates and 20% in grain tariffs compared to previous values.
It also stated that the initiative will benefit the entire economy, not only rural producers. The president justified the measure as compensation for decades of tax burden to the sector and claimed that the current guaranteed the unprecedented applicability of the cut.
Opposition criticizes the cut for estimating fall in federal collection. Congressmen claim that loss of revenue may require cuts in other areas or transfer greater burden from domestic taxpayers.
