The visible disappointment on the face of After starting behind McLaren’s companion, turned into a wide smile after the victory without scares at the Belgium GP-his Friday this season-this Sunday (27), at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. The World Cup leader exceeded the British on the first lap, opened a large advantage and only managed the distance over the main competitor to the title throughout the race. With the result, the Australian expanded his advantage in the leading the pilot World Cup to 16 points – 266 against 250 from Norris. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc got the best in the dispute with the four -time champion Max Verstappen and completed the podium. Those stood out, however, was Lewis Hamilton, who started in 18th and, after a good recovery, received the flag in 7th place.

Newbie Gabriel Bortoleto repeated the good performance of the Austria GP and again reached the scoring zone – added two points with ninth place in Belgium. The Brazilian had dropped in tenth after almost being eliminated in the Q1 of the classification – he advanced because of a punishment to Hamilton. After two days without incidents, the Belgium GP began under tension, with rain and suspended proof for lack of visibility shortly after the presentation return-Formula 3, which preceded the main event on the spa-francorchamps track, was not even disputed because of bad weather conditions. Thus, the 13th stage of the season started with 1h20 late, with the cars profiled behind Safety Car.

Without rain, but with wet track, the dispute effectively started moving from the fifth lap. There were only three curves for Pastri to overtake Norris and take the lead of the race, in the only change in grid – Leclerc, Verstappen, Albon and Russell came in the following. Gabriel Bortoleto kept the tenth post of the start, behind Lawson and ahead of Ocon. At a rare overtaking, Hamilton, who had dropped in 18th, in a “weekend to forget”, as he said on Saturday, took advantage of his Ferrari’s power to attack the opponents at the end of the platoon and earn positions – already occupied 13th place 10 of 44 total.

The pilots began to attend the boxes from the 12th round to put average tires. Norris momentarily took over the lead with Pastri’s parade, but Verstappen, who attacked Leclerc for third place, wasted time at Pit Stop and gave the Ferrari pilot breath. In the next turn, the McLaren Australian resumed the tip. McLaren had trouble changing Norris and Piostri tires opened 9s2 leading after 15 laps. Hamilton and Hülkenberg benefited from the early stops and began to occupy, respectively, the seventh and ninth place – the German returned to the front of Sauber’s companion, Bortoleto, who was still in tenth after the go by the pits.

Faster, the Brazilian asked for a passage and Hülkenberg gave ninth place in the 20th round to attack Lawson. Halfway through the race, Pistri had 8s2 advantage over Norris, who in turn came 7s8 ahead of Leclerc – Verstappen, Russell, Albon and Hamilton followed the trio. With the concentrated dispute in the middle of the platoon, the positions in the top 10 only changed in the 34th round, ten of the end, when Hülkenberg changed tires and Gasly took the tenth post. He came 12s8 behind Bortoleto, who was slower than Lawson and walked away from the eighth place – 3s1 behind. Pistri led with 7s6 advantage over Norris.

Five from the end of the end, Norris approached Pastri, 5s5, while Verstappen pressured Leclerc, 1s4 behind in the podium fight, but the pair managed to manage the position to the end. Far from both Lawson, in front of him, and Gasly, Bortoleto arrived in ninth place, celebrating two more points in the debut season with Sauber. Formula 1 returns next weekend at the Hungary GP, before the summer holidays, August 1 and 3, at the Hungaroring circuit, in the 14th stage of the season. The race will be on Sunday, scheduled for starting at 10am (Brasília time)
