One of the most reverberated presences at MuscleContest Brazil 2025, a professional bodybuilding championship that was organized by MuscleContest International and took place between July 18 and 20 in Curitiba (PR), was Terrence Ruffin, athlete of Classic Physique and Ramon Dino rival in the search for the title of Olympia.
In an exclusive interview with Folha de S. Paulo’s Blog Muscle, the professional bodybuilder also known as Ruff Diesel states that, in his opinion, the dispute to become the best Classic Physique in the world should focus between him and Mike Sommerfeld, current champion of Ohio Sports Festival edition, the Arnold Classic Ohio.
Previously, Ruffin had said that he did not see possibilities of a Brazilian victory in Olympia if the German arrived at the height of his physique. Asked about a possible change of opinion, the US athlete remains firm: “I keep what I said. I think if there was no weight limit, Ramon would be champion every year. He is giant.”
“Honestly, I could lie and say I changed my mind, say something that Brazilian fans would like to hear. But I keep my position, that’s what I think,” he adds.
According to Ruffin, “Ramon, Mike and Urs (Kalecinski, another name quoted as a possible favorite of the Olympia 2025 title) are giant in the off-season (period when bodybuilders are not prepared to compete), but they will need to lose something around 13kg to 18kg to fit the weight limit of the category.”
By 2023, the Classic Physique weight table has changed. Until the last year, Ruffin could weigh up to 78kg, in view of his height of 1.65m. However, with the turnaround, the bodybuilder can weigh just over 82kg on the stage. In 2024, he did not participate in championships because he claimed that he would need time to add all the muscle mass needed to be close to the limit again.
This season he returned bigger and heavier, which made him beat names like Jose Manuel Muñoz, Josema, and win two competitions: the New York Pro and Pittsburgh Pro.
Regarding weight addition, Ruffin points out that he should “get very close to the limit” in weighing for the most important championship in the world and reveals his greatest fear of change: “My height varied a little in the two shows where I measured myself this year. My only fear is that on the day of weighing Olympia, this variation makes me fit a lesser weight limit. This is why I have been quite cautious about the amount of muscle I can still gain. “
One of the biggest rivals of Cbum’s career, Ruffin was runner-up of Olympia in 2020 and 2021. He also won the 2021 and 2022 editions of the Arnold Classic Ohio.
