Members of the Senators who traveled to the United States to try to negotiate the tariffs imposed on Brazil held a preparatory meeting on Saturday (26) in Washington.
The meeting was attended by senators Teresa Cristina (PP-MS), Nelsinho Trad (PSD-MS), Esperidião Amin (PP-SC), astronaut Marcos Pontes (PL-SP) and Fernando Farias (MDB-AL). Senators Carlos Viana (Somos-MG), Jacques Wagner (PT-BA) and Rogério Carvalho (PT-SE) must join their colleagues on Sunday (27).

Senator Nelsinho Trad, chairman of the Foreign Relations Commission and coordinator of the mission, said that “preparation is fundamental to ensure a cohesive, institutional and strategic performance on behalf of Brazil”. The mission was unanimously approved by the House Plenary.
The group’s agenda begins on Monday morning (28), when congressmen have meetings at the Brazilian Embassy in Washington. In the afternoon, the group goes to US Chamber of Commerce headquarters when they meet business leaders and representatives of Brazil-Us Business Council.
Senators in the US try to reverse – or at least postpone – the application of the rates announced by Donald Trump. Earlier this month, the White House head announced 50% tariff over Brazilian exports from August 1 and related the measure to the criminal action in which former President Jair Bolsonaro is a defendant.
