The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), defended on Saturday, 26, two pillars for the Brazilian economy from 2026: administrative reform and revenue detachment.

“Congress will do this agenda? Tops if you have leadership,” said Tarcisio. He participated in a panel in Expert XP Alongside the governors of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), and Paraná, Ratinho Jr. (Social Democratic Party – PSD).

According to the governor of São Paulo, the state gives a “great example for Brazil” as powers work independently and in harmony in their agendas. “We explained every government action and managed to advance the reforms we propose,” he said, about the relationship with the state deputies. “The parliamentarians are protagonists of the actions of the government of São Paulo,” he said.

Commenting on the difficulties of presidentialism, given the advancement of Congress on budget execution, Caiado said that the president must have a mandate to “face and solve the problems” and that he is a pre-candidate thinking about it.

“If I am president, I will exercise presidentialism, it is me who will send in the budget,” he said. “Congress function is to legislate and follow the budget, and not be your manager.”

Caiado also criticized the work of Finance Minister Fernando Haddad, saying that he is part of the “low clergy” and is not consulted in important decisions.

Already Ratinho Jr. defended the control of public accounts and said that Brazil is in a difficult time. “Those who do not take care of public accounts do not take care of people,” he said.

In reference to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP30) in Belém, at the end of the year, he claimed that the resources spent by the government with the climate event would pave “100% of the streets of 500 cities in Brazil”.
