US President Donald Trump on Sunday evening in his golf resort in Turnberry in Scotland confirmed that he managed to reach a business agreement with the President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von Der Leyen of 15 percent to most EU exports to the US, including cars. This was reported by the DPA news agency for the consortium of the European Press Agencies (EUROopeam Newsroom, ENR), which also includes TASR.

“We have reached an agreement. This is a good agreement for all. It will be the biggest agreement of all,” Trump said before journalists after negotiations with von der Leyen. The EU executive chief also described this as a “good agreement” and recalled that it was a demanding process. “We have it now and that is good?” described the situation.

According to Trump, the customs rate for most imports from the EU to the United States will be 15 percent, even for the automotive industry.

The DPA stated that the Transatlantic Agreement ended the months of the negotiations between Brussels and Washington on the amount of tariffs, and the expectations of the Sunday negotiations would lead to the agreement were therefore very large.

In July, Trump threatened 30 % of the European Union of 30 % of European imports starting from August 1 and the Union, adequated that if it fails to reach a satisfactory agreement, it plans retaliatory measures.

The US President said the EU agrees with the purchase of US energy worth $ 750 billion, and another $ 600 billion wants to invest in the US. He stated that the duties of steel and aluminum imports would remain 50 percent as before.
