Falling fragments of destroyed Ukrainian drones on Sunday disrupted the power of the railway network and train connections in the part of the Volgograd region in the south of Russia. The Russian Defense Ministry said that nine Ukrainian drones were destroyed over the Volgograd region. The governor Andrej Bočarov added that there were no injuries in the attacks. The Federal Air Force Agency Rosaviacija announced that flights at the Volgographer were interrupted shortly after midnight and did not renew until Sunday morning.
The RIA State Press Agency stated that several train connections in the region were delayed as a result of the attacks. The scope of damage is not yet known. Ukraine has not yet commented on the incident.
However, Kiev has repeatedly emphasized that similar attacks are a reaction to continuous Russian strikes to the Ukrainian territory since the beginning of the invasion in 2022 and focusing on infrastructure that is crucial for Russian war efforts.
