Brazil won gold in men’s basketball of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 university games on Saturday afternoon (26).
The title came after an insane turn against the United States. After losing 26 points, the Brazilian team managed to tie the duel in the last room and force the extension. In extra time, Brazil was better and won the game by 94 to 88.
Adyel was the big basket of the match, with 25 points, and led the team with four more assists and four thefts. Reynan, with 18, and Zu Júnior, with 16, also passed the two digits in the score.
To win gold, Brazil has won six matches: Philippines, Poland and Czech Republic in the group stage, South Korea in Wednesdays and Germany – – in the semifinal before hitting the US in the decision.
This was the first Brazilian gold at the Universisiad after 62 years.
