Elyse made a list of 8 criteria and defined what is the best application for each context.
Speed, real -time navigation
Waze Win. It is better in real -time re -entertainment and quickly to bring users to their destination. Its biggest advantage is in the “aggressive tactics” of evasion to traffic, immediately referring to the driver without asking for confirmation. Google Maps, on the other hand, suggests faster routes, but expects user approval before changing the route.
Other means of transportation
Google Maps wins. For those who walk public transport, for those who go hiking, bicycle routes or others, are better. “Waze is only for drivers. Literally.” If it is not behind the wheel, the waze does not help.
Transit, report of incidents
Waze Win. The real -time community report system works. Drivers have already gotten used to warning about traffic jams, accidents, roads on the road and even the presence of the police. Google Maps also has something similar – but Waze makes the best of automatic reemption based on this information.

Google Maps Win. Both applications have Gemini, but Google Maps has a broader, better integrated feature – with not only reports, but also for suggestions taking into account the context, but to find nearby restaurants.
Availability, compatibility
Google Maps wins. Maps and Waze are available globally for iOS, Android, Android Auto and Apple Carplay. But Google Maps comes preinstalled on most Android mobile phones and integrated into the automotive Android operating system.

But of course, the choice between Waze and Maps often depends on the priorities of each user.
