The Austrian painter, who conquered the market with the “Junge Wilden” in the 1980s, is dead. He died on Sunday at the age of 66, as gallery owner Helmut Reinisch a report of Presse confirmed. Brandl’s work was characterized by large-format mountain panoramas, pastoses color explosions and dark meditations about death. Most recently, Brandl were devoted to 21 large staff in the Kunsthaus Graz and Belvedere.
