One of the defendants in the lawsuit of the alleged coup plot, said, in a statement to last Thursday (24), that he had a confidentiality clause.
This empties, according to Rocha, one of the main arguments of the Attorney General’s Office in the process, that he would have spread misinformation against the ballot box. “I did not disclose the information, nor could it, by contract. Therefore, the thesis that I spread Fake News does not support itself.”
Rocha chairs the Vot Legal Institute, which was hired in July 2022 by the president of, to check the reliability of the voting system. The hiring occurred after pressure from the then president, (PL), who defended the impression of the vote.
In his testimony, Rocha, an engineer graduated from Ita (Aeronautics Technology Institute) who participated in the creation of the electronic ballot box, reaffirmed that he did only technical work for the PL and never aimed to politicize the theme.
He also denied that there was in his report to the PL the completion of fraud at the ballot box, but only inconsistencies in records in part of the machines.
“The PL report on the operation of the electronic ballot box and its addenda did not deal with fraud, because the search for causes of uncomfortable was not part of the scope of the audit. Addendum to the report contains an explicit statement that states that the report did not deal with fraud,” said Rocha.
The engineer was included in the “core 4” of the complaint, which would be responsible for spreading false news and attacking institutions.
He said he believed that, after his statement, it was possible to clarify misconceptions presented by the prosecutor. “The PGR was with incorrect information, because it misunderstood some information. I received the questions serenity, I believe we clarified everything,” he said.
