(PL), and Bruno Engler (PL-MG), a state deputy, became defendants in Minas Gerais on charges of disseminating false information against the then mayor of, Fuad Noman (PSD), in the second round of 2024 municipal elections. If they are convicted, they may have suspended political rights, become ineligible and pay compensation for collective moral damages.

Also targets of the action are the state deputy delegated Sheila (PL) and Colonel Claudia (PL), who was candidate for deputy mayor on the Engine plate. The decision, signed by Judge Marcos Antônio da Silva, of the 29th Electoral Zone, was published on Friday (25). In the order, the magistrate stated that the prosecution’s complaint presents elements that indicate violation of the electoral legislation.

The report was unable to contact the accused.

According to the complaint, the suspects participated in an organized uninformation campaign in the last days of the election, with publications on social networks, radio, TV and the internet, with the objective of influencing the result of the second round in Belo Horizonte.

The complaint points out that the accused distorted excerpts from the book “Covet”, written by Fuad Noman, falsely suggesting that the perpetrator endorsed crimes against children, and accusing him of allowing minors to have access to sexual content at a comic festival. Both episodes were the target of electoral court decisions that classified the accusations as illegal.

The work “Greed”, written in 2020, deals with the story of a woman who investigates her family’s past and comes across a series of episodes of personal revenge involving her ancestors.

In the attacks on Fuad, opponents claimed that the mayor wrote an erotic book reporting a 12 -year -old rape.

The prosecution states that it played a central role in disseminating information, using its reach on social networks to disseminate false and offensive content, as well as breach court order that determined the removal of publications.

If convicted, deputies may lose political rights, which would prevent them from voting and disputing elections.
