US President Donald Trump said on Monday that “had never had the honor” to visit the private island of the deceased financier and convicted sexual delinquency Jefrey Epstein. Although he received the invitation, he refused, TASR writes based on Reuters report. “I never had the honor of going to his island and I refused. In one of my very good moments I refused,” Trump told reporters in his golf resort in Turnberra, Scotland.

Reuters reports that Epstein owned a private island within the American Virgin Islands, where the prominent personalities of politics, business and entertainment industry were allegedly entertained. The US prosecutor’s office claims that Epstein is an island for the confidentiality of white meat trafficking or abuse of minors.

Trump’s statements are according to Reuters The latest attempt to distance himself in a tense political situation from the way his administration handled the investigative files related to Epstein and his relationship with the deceased financier. He committed suicide in a New York prison in 2019.

The President claims that their friendly relationship with Epstein ended after the entrepreneur tried to recruit the employees who worked for Trump. “He hired help and I said, Never do it again. He stole the people working for me. He did it again. I fired him like an unwanted person,” declared Trump.

Reuters reports that The Epstein’s case also creates a split in Trump’s voter base. Its part believes that the US government covers financiers’ ties to rich and powerful people. According to air records, the president was on board Epstein’s plane at least six times, but neither of the roads was directed at his private island.
