New York (Reuters)-The investment giant Blackstone Inc said on Tuesday that a graduated executive is among the dead people when an armed man, carrying a rifle of robbery, entered the lobby of an office building in Midtown Manhattan and opened fire on Monday.
“We are heartbroken to share that our colleague, Wesley Lepatner, is among the people who have lost their lives in the tragic incident at 345 Park Avenue. There are no words to express the devastation we feel,” the company said in a statement.
Lepatner was a senior administrative director of the company and global chief of Core+ Real Estate and executive director of Blackstone Real Estate Incom Trust (Breit), the company added. She joined Blackstone in 2014, coming from Goldman Sachs, according to the company’s website. She graduated from Yale and married in 2006, according to a New York Times wedding announcement.

The attack took place on Monday afternoon at Park Avenue number 345, the office building where Blackstone has its headquarters in New York, and the moment employees were preparing to go out for work.
Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman, and President Jon Gray wrote a note for all employees on Monday, calling “The Worst Day in the 40th anniversary of the company’s history,” according to sources that saw the memorandum. Executives also said the Blackstone office in New York will be closed on Tuesday.
Late Tuesday morning, Blackstone will make a zoom call, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The 27 -year -old shooter Shane Tamura entered the office building that also houses NFL Football League headquarters, KPMG Accounting Company and Rudin Management real estate company, among other large financial companies, carrying a rifle and opened fire.
He fired in the lobby, according to New York police, where people were taking shelter or trying to escape.
Then he went to the 33rd floor of the skyscraper, where he killed himself.
