The alliance between two of the main exponents of the new Brazilian right suffered a public shaking. Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) broke politically with Deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG), after accusations of disloyalty and omission in expensive guidelines for pockets.
The fuse was Nikolas’ participation in a Space on social network X, in which he praised the influencer known as “intergalactic bay”, a frequent criticism of former President Jair Bolsonaro. The conversation reverberated on the networks and was shared by the scholarship influencer Allan dos Santos, a fugitive from Brazilian justice.
The publication provoked a strong reaction from Eduardo Bolsonaro, who openly criticized his party colleague: “It’s sad to see how much Nikolas has arrived.”
Accumulated suspicions
The most recent episode only highlighted an ongoing friction. Eduardo and nearby allies were manifesting, especially in relation to their absence in initiatives to pressure the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and defend the accused by the scammer acts of January 8, 2023.
Eduardo, who is currently in the United States articulating support for the amnesty of those involved, has been able to act firmer of base parliamentarians. According to him, Nikolas, the deputy with greater range on social networks, would be omitting essential guidelines for pockets.
The tension between the two once again showed the difficulty of maintaining cohesion within the radical right after Jair Bolsonaro’s defeat in the 2022 elections and in the face of the advancement of investigations into the attempted coup.
