After the Israeli announcement of the opening of safe routes to help in the Palestinian enclave, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced it on Monday, TASR writes based on AFP and DPA reports.
“The German government, in cooperation with Jordan, will immediately establish air transport of humanitarian aid to Gaza,” Merz said on Monday. According to the office, Germany will also cooperate with France and the United Kingdom on the initiative.
“We know that it can only be very little help for people in Gaza, but it is still something we like to participate in,” added the office, who will receive King Abdallah II on Tuesday in Berlin.
German minister will come to the Middle East
According to AFP, Merz is one of Israel’s most loyal supporters in his fight against the Palestinian militant group Hamas and Tel Aviv, he called to “immediately improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza”. In addition, he announced that the German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul will travel to the Middle East on Thursday, where he wants to help in negotiations to close a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
On Sunday, the Israeli army announced the introduction of the so -called “tactical break” in military operations in some parts of the Gaza Strip to alleviate the humanitarian crisis caused by food deficiency.
During the first day of its introduction, the UN distributed more than 120 food assistance trucks in this Palestinian territory. In addition, Israel, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates from aircraft dropped a smaller amount of humanitarian aid. Spain also announced food aid on Monday.
