In the opinion that has come to the government, the Order of Psychologists warns that the National Strategy of Citizenship Education must be “a tool for promoting equality, health and human rights” and not “a missed opportunity to respond to the challenges that children and young people face”. Therefore, it is “essential” that contemplates sex education.
A and It was one of the entities that wanted to contribute, addressing an opinion to the government in which it leaves not only several recommendations, but warnings about the apparent, absence of sex education.
“[É] Essential to ensure that sex education is accessible to all children and young people (without asymmetries for access to content and inequalities between schools and between students), from the early years of schooling ”
But, he points out, “Effective programs”, “explicit, structured, continued and evidence based” are requiredwhich addresses relational and, simultaneous aspects, “anatomy, physiology, sexual and gender diversity, contraceptive methods, prevention of sexually transmitted infections, consent, sexual violence, among others”.
What does not happen, according to the Order, in the government proposal that is in public consultation. The reference to sexuality “is restricted, limited and technically inaccurate”.
This is an example, terms such as “intimacy and privacy and consent” that “briefly mentioned in the 2nd and 3rd cycle of basic education, but in a generic and decontextualized way, without direct reference to sex education as a structuring component of health and citizenship”.
More, it refers to the order: “The very absence of the term ‘sexuality’, by itself, removes visibility and pedagogical intention to sexual education”.
