The president removed from Corinthians, Augusto Melo, suffered another defeat in court on Tuesday (29). The São Paulo Court of Justice (TJ-SP) denied the injunction filed by the defense to suspend the club’s deliberative council meeting that began the impeachment process against him.
The appeal questioned the legality of the meeting of the meeting held on May 26, 2025, alleging alleged irregularities, such as the participation of default counselors and the absence of essential documents, including the minutes of meetings and attendance lists.
Melo’s defense – which recently – also maintained that the chairman of the Deliberative Council, Romeu Tuma Jr., would be removed at the time, which would make the invalid call. Tuma, however, was on the carho normally.
Judge Enéas Costa Garcia, rapporteur of the case in the 1st Chamber of Private Law, rejected the urgent request and maintained the regular progress of the dismissal process. For the magistrate, the need for immediate court intervention to nullify the process conducted internally by the club was not proven. The information was released by the bid! and confirmed.
“I reject the anticipation of the effects of appeal protection, which cumulatively presupposes:” (a) the relevance of the motivation of the appeal, implying prognosis about the future judgment of the appeal in the fractional body; and (b) the fear of severe injury and difficult to repair resulting from compliance with the aggravated decision until the final judgment of the appeal. “(Araken de Assis, Appeals Manual, 8th ed., P. 643).
In the present case, there is no emergency situation or likelihood that justifies the granting of suspensive/active effect, “says an excerpt from a document obtained by CNN.
